A water lily is also known as a lotus, It is a spiritual and aesthetic symbol in many religions. In each religion the meaning is slightly
different, however they symbolize resurrection, enlightenment, purity, serenity and peace. For a tattoo enthusiast the lotus flower reflect purity of heart and the circle of life.

Famous French Impressionist Claude Monet (1840-1926) used water lilies as an object in 250 of his oil paintings.
The paintings depict Monet's flower garden at Giverny and were the main accomplishment of Monet's artistic production during the last thirty years of his life.
