What color is your throw blanket?

Now is the time of year when throw blankets become not in use, so before throwing them haphazardly here are some decorating ideas for throw blankets from http://www.hgtv.com

“For a casual and informal look, toss a throw over the back of a chair, the arm of a sofa, the end of a bed or even on the dining room table.

These types of blankets come in a huge array of fabrics, textures and colors  chenille, cotton, applique, velvet, beaded, handpainted, wool, cashmere, etc.

One current trend is the rustic elegance of American woolen patterns. The freedom throw is a generously sized piece of heritage that is important to our country today.

The elegance of a hand painted throw has the power to transform any room all by itself.

To make a luxurious throw on a budget, find two remnants of complementary fabrics such as dupioni silk and chenille. Sew them together with cording along the edges and tassels in each corner for a finishing touch.”

With these quick and easy decorating ideas for throw blankets you can create inviting warmth in any room.

Quote of the week

"Some people are always grumbling because roses have thorns.
I am thankful that thorns have roses"
Alphonse Kerr
The rose has always been valued for its beauty, fragrance and has its own symbol.

The five petals of the rose represent woman’s journey through life, and the five stages are birth, childhood, motherhood, the change of life into a woman of wisdom and finally, eternal rest.
Today is my birthday. To look at me, you would not know what stage of life I am in. You would have to look into my heart.
There are still moments when I feel like a child, and so many thing are wondrous, and just the forming of the day lends me happiness in me. I suppose that is the child stage. Even though I am far past that in years, I seem to keep a part of the child in me by adding wisdom on it. For that I’m so glad I reached this day.
Pablo Picasso once said, "Are we to paint what's on the face, what's inside the face, or what's behind it?"
What do you see in the mirror? Is it puzzling reflections?  Can you see what is inside the face?

Roses are associated with not only  woman’s journey through life or love but also luxury; this is something you should remember when design your home.

Happy birthday to me.

G. K. Chesterton said, “The way to love anything is to realize that it may be lost.”
Here is a list of seven precious things I could potentially lose:
Memories
Someone I Love
Faith
Friendship
Joy
Health
Abilities
How about you, what is your list? … Do you sometimes consider what you might lose? Does this enhance your appreciation for them?

Come to me ... My memories...
Love...  My Heart Belongs to You

Faith ... Prayer ... Meditation

Friend  ..Watch over me as I have watched over you..

Joy.. Dancing in the clouds

Health.. to smile and to shake off negative feelings

Ability to be inspired by my own shadow

"What loved little islands, twice seen in their lakes,
  Can the wild water-lily restore"
        Campbell—Field Flowers

Water lily chandelier design from infiore by Estiluz Spain

A water lily is also known as a lotus, It is a spiritual and aesthetic symbol in many religions. In each religion the meaning is slightly
different, however they symbolize resurrection, enlightenment, purity, serenity and peace. For a tattoo enthusiast the lotus flower reflect purity of heart and the circle of life.

Famous French Impressionist Claude Monet (1840-1926) used water lilies as an object in 250 of his oil paintings.
The paintings depict Monet's flower garden at Giverny and were the main accomplishment of Monet's artistic production during the last thirty years of his life.

You know today is Flag Day? When we're all supposed to fly the American flag somewhere.  We have every right to be proud of our nation, our flag and our culture. So raise the flag today with pride!
what if we made a flag that represents our self. What would it be? Would you add glitter, embellishments or other rickrack?  Make quick sketches of a
flag that represents  just you without thinking about perfection.
Did you know? If you like to study flags, then you are a Vexillologist. Here is something to add to your Vexillologist library…

The Ethiopian flag was adopted around 1800. The flag of Ethiopian is divided into three horizontal stripes of equal size: Green, Yellow and Red.

The colored stripes on the Ethiopian flag are significant –
The Green stripe on the top represents the land and hope.  The Yellow stripe in the middle of the Ethiopian flag represents the church, peace, natural wealth and love; and the Red stripe on the bottom represents power, faith and blood.
